Little People

We draw names for Christmas on my side of the family. I have my sister Becky and her family. Sarah showed me this pattern that she found on Etsy. I had to make Becky's kids one. I decided to go the extra mile and make little clothes for them. For her little girl, I made a dress and added a flower on her head. For one of her boys, I made a superhero and a little school boy for the other. Didn't they turn out cute?!! I love them. My kids have had a hard time keeping their hands off of them, but little do they know, they will each have a little person by their stocking Christmas morning. :) I just can't resist.

Fun Christmas Email

I got this email from my mom. I thought it was so funny. So here is a little humor for the stressful holiday season.

The wife has been on my case to get the Christmas lights up for a couple of weeks now. They are up now, and for some reason she will not talk to me.

The Dark Knight

David and I went to see the new Batman movie last night, The Dark Knight. And that is exactly what it was, dark. That's all I have to say about it.

Strange Behavior

Oh, Mr. Reflection. You are taking up my whole night. Whenever I move, you move and I can't figure it out. My family doesn't understand why I feel the need to growl. It is my job to protect them and I would love it if you would leave us alone for tonight. Thank you. I am sure I will see you here again soon.

Christmas Party With The Girls

We had our annual Christmas party last week for book club. It's funny we even call it book club when it's really a girls night out with best friends. We don't even talk books much. :) This year it was a Lisa's house. We had it dinner catered by Laurel's friend, which I missed because I came late. I was feeling a little under the weather that night, but I wouldn't have missed it. We did our white elephant gift exchange. It's always so fun to see what people get. Some of the gifts were really cute, which totally goes against the whole "white elephant" idea. I was sitting next to Karen and she kept saying, "My gift is so bad compared to these." I kept re-assuring her that it was ok, that's the point of the game. By the end of the game we all agreed that Karen's was the best. It was a Tiki doll. Kristin was the lucky one who received it. I gave my old ab slide that I got years ago. Sarah makes an annual cd where we all put one of our favorite songs. It makes a really good mix. This year Sarah asked us to contribute a song that describes us. I picked Depeche Mode, It's No Good. That song was a song that David and I had while we were courting. He knew that we should get married before I did, and the lyrics go right along really well with our situation.
Thanks ladies for another fun night. I look forward to many more!

Edward poster that was given as a white elephant gift from Sarah. Lisa ended up with it and will be giving it to her daughter who has received two other posters (Chris Brown and Tom Welling) from the previous years, also from Sarah.

Monkey Kong

Over the Thanksgiving break Carmen was introduced to Donkey Kong on the N64. She played a lot and loved it. She calls it "Monkey Kong." Yesterday when given a piece of paper and a crayon at church, she drew her own version of monkey kong.

Nutcracker 5K

Every year in December there is a fun 5k at UVU called, "The Nutcracker". We have been going for 3 years now. You wear a tutu when you run, get a long sleave shirt, and a ticket to the local ballet.
I wasn't planning on running it this year because I have been sick this last week, but last minute John had other obligations and told me I could run in his place. So I took it and like always, it was really fun.
Colleen, me, Hannah, and Sarah doing our best ballerina pose. Colleen and Hannah are Sarah's new running partners. They did really well for their first race.
Kristen, Sarah, and I posing. I invited Kristen a few years ago and she has been coming since. We ran cross country together, so it is fun to still share the running spirit with her.

Here is Kristen and Rob (her new husband). She talked him into coming and running it with her. Aren't they cute?

Chicken Soup For The Flu Bug Soul

There is nothing like a bowl of chicken noodle soup when you are sick. Thanks Chris and Sarah for thinking about us when we weren't feeling our best. :) It really hit the spot.

Easily Amused

It's Garbage Day!

Surprise!

Usually when David has something up his sleeve, I can feel that something is up. But on Saturday night that was not the case. Sarah showed up on on doorstep right at 6 ready to babysit. I was so surprised. David told me to get my coat and we were off. I had no idea what we were doing!
When we got on the freeway heading north, he finally spilled the beans that he got tickets to a Jazz game! He said that he had so much fun at the Coldplay concert the week before, he wanted to do something again. (And it helped that he won the tickets at work! :)) He kept that secret from me for a whole week! I was so impressed!

Thanksgiving in Chubbuck

We usually head up to the Thompson's in Chubbuck for Thanksgiving. We had a great time up there this year, as we always do. Here are a few things that we did.
We went for a little drive and David showed the kids where he used to play when he was just a boy. There is a park right across the street from his old house where he has lots of memories.
After our Thanksgiving feast, the women pulled out all their scrapbooking stuff. These ladies know how to scrapbook and they have all the equipment and talent to prove it.
We did a lot of lounging.
Grandpa Thompson and Morgan
David and Graham watching Kung Fu Panda.
We made gingerbread houses.
Graham posing by his. He was so proud of it.
Yes that is frosting and red hots making up Greg's handlebar mustache.
Carmen loved hers. She felt so big.
I have never made the "real" gingerbread houses. I have always done Graham Cracker ones. Usually Dad and Cindy do the houses at Christmas, but decided to do it with us while we were there. It was fun to be in on their tradition and I think we will start the same it too.
It was such a blast. We always have a good time visiting family.
