Another Keeper

Carmen brought home another keeper in her homework folder the other day. Do you think I have drilled it into her little head enough that she doesn't have to kiss every boy she likes? (like I did ;))

Wood Toys

What do you do when your awesome brother-in-law lets you borrow his scroll saw to make some wood craft samples for a relief society get together? You sneak in a little extra time for yourself so the kids can have a little fun too.

I first gave the kids each a scrap of wood and let them draw their new toy: Then I tried my best to stay in the lines. Graham wanted his characters cyclopes' eye to pop out and be replaced by another one depending on his mood. I tried my best.
Since borrowing Jay's scroll saw, I learned something. Kids don't need fancy toys to keep them entertained. They have loved their little 2 dimensional wood creations. I am sure this won't last forever. I am enjoying it for now.

It's Santa!

Carmen felt so proud of her new beard. I was wondering why it was taking her so long to wash her hands. So easily entertained.

A Little Glimpse

Deer Valley 2010 Courtesy: Zach
This picture resembles Truman's personality now and I am sure in the future. He is always so pleasant and happy and everyone loves to be around him. Doesn't it remind you of an action shot you would see in a high school yearbook? We just love him!

Brainless

Graham asked: Mom? Does Harvey even have a brain? Or just instincts?

Me(laughing): Of course he has a brain. Dogs have brains.

Carmen: What are instincts?

Graham: You'll learn when your older.

Carmen's Favorites

I love to open the kids' backpacks and find special treasures like this one. Here is a list of Carmen's favorite things.

Favorite Rhyme: Wee Willie Winkie
Favorite Food: Peanut Butter and Jelly
Favorite Game: Battleship
Favoite Color: red

The Joys Of Early Morning Running

Left while it was still dark and came home to this. A breathtaking sunrise on an overcast morning. Man, we live in a beautiful place. Sometimes I take it for granted.

A Must Read

I just finished Haley's book today. Wow! It is truly an amazing story of her battle with anorexia and the struggle with good and evil. I am so grateful she wrote this book and is sharing her story with the world. It really opened my eyes to this disease. It's a must read! I would recommend this book to anyone. I am looking forward to meeting Haley next month when she comes to our book club! She also visits YW groups to speak on the importance of self worth. I think our youth today could really benefit from hearing her story.

Deer Valley

We enjoyed our Labor Day weekend in Deer Valley with David's mom and sister Emily and our families. We rented a 3 bedbroom condo and had a blast! Like always the time goes way too fast. We enjoyed swimming, relaxing, shopping, eating, and playing games. We allowed ourselves to do pretty much anything we wanted as our motto for the weekend became, "We're on vacation." So pretty much anything goes. The pool was amazing, complete with waterslide and the condo was great! We want to go back next year. Thanks guys! We had so much fun. We missed you Rena!

Homemade

What do you do when asked to take some produce from a neighbors garden so it won't go to waste? You make salsa of course! Yum!
