Accidentally Rebellious

A few things we thought on our way up and when we got to Payson Lakes:

  • Why haven't we come up here before?
  • This place is beautiful!
  • It's so nice and quiet.
  • Harvey has the lake to himself pretty much!
  • Where are Em and Jay? They said they would be here. It's not like them to now show.

After the owner lady pulled up in her golf cart and ripped us a new one, here were a few of our thoughts on the way home:

  • There are not signs all over the place stating that dogs can't swim in the water!
  • How were we supposed to know we were in an reserved camping area?
  • Why didn't the guy we paid when we got here tell us the rules?
  • Where are Em and Jay? We hope they're okay.
  • Who were these people in the golf cart? They think their so sweet.
  • Why did we pay $7 to get in? It wasn't worth it.

Okay, so we were acting a little childish. We did have a good time before we got "caught". And come to find out, Em and Jay were fine. They were having their own jolly time relaxing at the lake below us. Also wondering where we were. I think next time we will just stick to our usual cook-out place.

First a Bead, Second a Button

If you remember, on Mother's Day while sitting in Relief Society, the Primary Pres. brought me Morgan and whispered, "She's got a bead stuck up her nose." Well, long story short, we worked with it until it popped out.
This morning while Morgan was in the bath she said, "Oh, look! It finally came out." I turned to see a really snotty, mucusy button in her hand. Sick! I guess she didn't learn her lesson the first time. I said, "How long has that been there??!" She said calmly, "A long time." I couldn't believe that she didn't come for help when she realized she couldn't get it out. I guess I will have to check her nose often for interesting objects. (yes, I made her pose with her little prize.)

So Honest

One of Morgan's little friends was sitting by me on the couch when she poked at my jelly belly and said:

"You have a baby in there?"

I replied, while pushing in my belly:

"Nope. No baby. My baby is here." Pointing to Truman.

Her:
"Oh, you just fat."

Me:
"Yep. That's right."

Hey, I'm working on it! Kids. You gotta love their honesty. :)

Water War!

Graham's birthday party was a huge success. The boys were so fun to watch. Before the war started, we got everything ready. Filled up the pool with water, then added close to 300 water balloons to it, set up the war face paint and bandannas. Each boy wrote something on their bandanna. There was soaker, destroyer, wrecker, and so on. And then with war began! Graham was so funny in this picture. This was taken before the war began. I told the boys to do an army man pose. Later Graham told me he thought out what he wanted to look like.
The battlefield.
Even Carmen got in on the action. She was on the red team. Here she had managed to get a water balloon stuck in her water gun.
Graham's got some great little friends. This is Alden.
Blue team!
The safe zone. Where you can reload and get more balloons without getting hit.
Bobbing for frogs. After the party. I had to take another picture at the end because two more of Graham's friends showed up after we took the first one. Notice a couple of the boys took on the now famous army man pose (see picture 1). Graham had such a fun time. I had a few of the mother's comment on how brave I was for taking on the challenge with all these fun boys. I actually really enjoyed myself. Like I said, they were really fun to watch and listen to. I will end this post with a few funny things that I saw and overheard:
  • One of the boys lightly squeezing a water balloon over and over said, "Look guys! My balloon has muscles."
  • One of the mother's came a little early and was visiting with me when her son said, "Mom, your not supposed to be here! You're ruining my party!"

It's Great To Be 8!

Last night before bed Graham said to me, "Mom, I am just warning you, I may be a little hyper-active tomorrow." He woke up at 6am giddy with excitement. Finally, after waiting two more hours for all of us to wake up, we finally watched him open his presents. Tomorrow he is having a few friends over for a water fight and barbeque. But most importantly, his baptism is scheduled for the first weekend in July!
Graham requested this to-die-for carrot cake this year. He was happy to see that I put a few drops of green food coloring (his favorite color) in the frosting.
(this picture was taken just after Graham had a sneezing fit. His allergies have been killing him this year. Poor guy.)
Happy 8th birthday bud! We are so blessed to have you in our family. We love you!!

Moby Replica

I made a moby wrap replica for the girls. They were so excited they could carry their toys the same way I carry Truman.

It's hard to believe....

....we have FOUR kids! While David was reading a few bedtime stories to the kids, I realized that our little family isn't so little anymore. Where did the time go? I can't count how many times people have told me to enjoy this time while I can because the time goes by so quickly. I believe it. What joy these little ones have brought to our lives.

Cookies 101

I have felt like I need to give the kids more time in the kitchen. So today I supervised the kids while they made cookies. What is better than hands on learning? Here is a mini version of our cooking lesson:

Add ingredients:
Mix ingredients:
Stir in chocolate chips:
Roll dough into balls:
Don't forget to "taste-test" the dough (our favorite part):
Wait patiently for the dough to bake:
Eat and enjoy:
Yum!:

A Song To Enjoy!

Our Spot Up The Canyon

This quiet non-crowded camp ground up Santaquin canyon has become a favorite for us. There's something quite relaxing about being up in the woods with your family enjoying each other's company.

Full On Laughter

Friday evening after filling up our little pool, I was encouraging the kids to get in and swim. I was holding Truman on my hip and he was facing outward checking everything out. I started to razz Harvey about getting in the freezing water as well. He started to bark. It was his way of refusing my commands. I am telling you, the water was cold! Even a dog who loves the water didn't want to touch it.
I was a little nervous about how Truman would react to Harvey's barking and was surprised when I felt his little body shake with laughter. As Harvey continued to bark, Truman thought it was the funniest thing and he continued to giggle. There have been a few other moments where Truman laughed, but they were nothing like this. I think it was the first time he actually noticed we had a big, furry, friendly thing living in our midst. And his loud, low bark was really hilarious to him.

Summertime, And The Livin' Is Easy

After the first week of summer break, my kids were really bored. Already! I seem to remember it being this way last summer too, but I think the older the kids get the worse it is. So on Friday we headed to Walmart to get a cheap pool. The box is so decieving. It shows a happy little family swimming, a kid even fully submerged in the water. My kids just look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them to get in and start swimming. I guess I can't blame them when the water is close to freezing. They sure have liked to spray each other with their water sqirt things though.

I haven't renewed our Seven Peaks passes yet this year because I don't know how easy it will be to go with Truman. This seems to be tiding them over for now.

Biggest Loser 2010!

I've got to get motivated to lose this baby weight. The competition will last 2 months. Weigh-In's will be weekly. Each player will put in $10 at the start of the competition and add another $2 if they don't meet their goal of 1% lost at each weigh-in. The first and second place winners at the end get all the loot. It's a fun way to get in shape. The competition will start on Monday June 14, 2010. Are you in?
Leave me your email if I don't have it already since that's how we will be communicating and posting the weekly results!! Don't worry, your weight is confidential. It's just your percentage that will be posted. :)
